Dr. Rachel Sobel specializes in Oculoplastics, Reconstructive, Orbital and Facial Cosmetic Surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology at Boston Medical Center. She is also an assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine. Her areas of expertise are Eyelid Surgery, Mohs Reconstructive Surgery, Orbital Tumors, Tear Duct Surgery, Thyroid Eye disease, Trauma and Botox and Dermal Fillers.
She received her bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from University of California at San Francisco. She completed her residency training at Wills Eye Institute and was then selected for a highly prestigious two–year oculoplastics fellowship program at the University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics. Since then she has performed and assisted on thousands of oculoplastics surgeries. Dr. Sobel has been a medical columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and US News and World Report. She has contributed to NPR and New England Journal of Medicine and is an active contributor to scientific publications.
